Lesly Diaz-Bonilla's dreams of being a nurse were cut short Wednesday, Nov. 16 when she was struck while crossing Columbia Pike from Barcroft View Terrace in Bailey's Crossroads just before 9 a.m., according to a GoFundMe launched for her family, and authorities.
A westbound 2014 Toyota Camry struck the girl, but the driver has not yet been identified. Though the investigation remains ongoing, authorities say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Condolences poured in.
"Lesly, I was so glad to watch you grow from middle school into high school as your P.E teacher," Kimberly Konklewski writes on her GoFundMe. "You will be so missed by all. My love to all family and friends."
"My sweet Lesly was in my 5th grade class," Mary Dillane added. "She was brilliant and full of life. Rest In peace in sweet girl."
"Lesly was the nicest person I’ve ever met especially in Justice," a former peer said. "I’m not there anymore I’ve graduated but I’ll always remember her being a fun person❤️."
